About Opera Viva

2023 is the 14th joyous year for our program for young artists and opera lovers in Verona, Italy.

Founded by Dr. Madelyn Spring Gearheart, Opera Viva! is dedicated to:

• the pedagogy of opera studies, giving students the tools they need to advance to the next level of their career preparation

• providing curriculum enrichment, rejuvenation and networking opportunities to collegiate opera instructors

• bringing lovers of opera and Italian culture to Verona to see the sights, tastes the tastes and participate in the opera world through touring the region, seeing world-class performances at l’Arena di Verona, and supporting the development of young artists at the onset of their careers.
