Stage Directing
Participants will receive tutorials and hands-on experience directing scenes and arias, under the close supervision of acclaimed stage directors David Walsh and Roberto DeSimone. Topics will include: research and preparation, style and setting, characterization, blocking, and acting exercises. A step-by-step guide to the rehearsal process will be provided, as well as a discussion of organization and appropriate repertoire.
Directing students will also participate in all of the other activities of the Opera Viva! program, including daily Italian language classes, observing and/or taking voice lessons and coaching, tickets to the Arena di Verona opera performances, and a host of other educational and networking opportunities.
